Everyone experiences occasional constipation, or dry and hard stools that are difficult to pass, but chronic constipation should not be ignored. Make sure you are eating the recommended 30 grams of fiber per day and are drinking at least 64 fluid ounces of water daily. If you are experiencing constipation that is not relieved by increasing daily dietary fiber and water, you should call your physician for help

Constipation in adults can be a symptom of IBS and can also cause hemorrhoids and fissures.
