Dr. Pavlos Z. Kaimakliotis is board-certified in the United States in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hepatology with significant additional training, expertise and interest in advanced endoscopic procedures.

Dr. Kaimakliotis has trained and worked at some of the most prestigious Universities and medical centers in the United States. He joined the Department of Gastroenterology at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Massachusetts in 2014 and was promoted to Director of Interventional Endoscopy in 2017. He was an integral member of the Department of Gastroenterology, performing specialized endoscopic procedures and participating in the education of Gastroenterology trainees. Dr. Kaimakliotis helped introduce several novel endoscopic techniques to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center and was also responsible for the significant expansion of the Interventional Endoscopy services over a 5-year period.

In addition to a wide variety of gastrointestinal disorders, Dr. Kaimakliotis specializes in diseases of the liver, pancreaticobiliary system, motility disorders of the esophagus and treatment of early neoplastic lesions of the GI tract, and is certified to perform a wide variety of advanced endoscopic procedures.

Dr. Kaimakliotis returns to Cyprus with his family after spending over 20 years in the United States. He looks forward to provide his expertise in Gastroenterology and complex Interventional Endoscopy services to the population of Cyprus.

 

Procedures Performed

  • Diagnostic and therapeutic upper endoscopy, colonoscopy and enteroscopy
  • ERCP including complex stone management, stent placement, stricture dilation
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic EUS including:
    • Staging for gastrointestinal malignancies (esophageal, gastric, rectal cancer)
    • EUS guided FNA/FNB of gastrointestinal and extraintestinal lesions
    • EUS guided liver biopsy
    • EUS guided placement of fiducial markers for delivery of radiation therapy
    • EUS guided celiac plexus block/neurolysis
    • EUS evaluation for cystic lesions of the pancreas
  • Complex pancreatic interventions including pancreatic pseudocyst drainage and endoscopic necrosectomy
  • Enteric (esophageal, duodenal, colonic) stents
  • Extensive endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) of large gastric and colon polyps and early gastrointestinal neoplasia
  • Ampullectomy
  • Per oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) for achalasia, gastroparesis, Zenker’s diverticulum
  • Advance ablative techniques including Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and cryoablation for the management of Barrett’s esophagus, RFA for malignant biliary strictures
  • Endoscopic wound vac placement for gastrointestinal leaks, fistulas and perforations
